Summaries through your ChatGPT account

Daisy 1.0.7.57 and newer can create summaries with the ChatGPT account already signed in through ChatGPT or Codex. You do not need to paste an OpenAI API key for this mode; API-key mode remains available as a separate connection.

Connect the account

  1. Open Settings → Summary.
  2. Select OpenAI as the summary provider.
  3. Switch the connection method to ChatGPT account.
  4. Read and accept the one-time cloud disclosure. Daisy sends the full transcript to OpenAI when it creates a summary in this mode.
  5. Choose Connect and finish sign-in if ChatGPT or Codex asks you to. Then select an available model and run the test.

What the plan card means

Account-backed summaries use limits reported for your ChatGPT plan. Daisy shows the provider-returned percentage and reset window when available. It does not turn that percentage into an estimated message count: model, context, reasoning and tool use can make requests consume different amounts.

The local 28-day activity view records provider, model, request result and duration. It does not invent token counts or per-request prices for account-backed runs.

Privacy and isolation

  • The transcript travels from your Mac to OpenAI through the Codex App Server signed into your ChatGPT account. Daisy does not proxy it through a Daisy server.
  • Summary threads are ephemeral and run in a fresh empty temporary folder with tools, approvals and file changes disabled.
  • Daisy receives account display metadata, available models and plan windows; it does not read or store the account credentials.
  • Choose Apple Intelligence, Ollama or LM Studio when the transcript must stay on the Mac. A ChatGPT account is a cloud route.

If connection fails

  • Update ChatGPT or Codex and make sure one of them is installed.
  • If Codex is using an API key, sign out there and connect a ChatGPT account instead.
  • Return to Settings → Summary, refresh the account status, and choose a model that the account reports as available.
  • If a plan limit is reached, wait for the displayed reset or switch to another summary provider.
